May 16, 2019 marked the first day of my adventure into the woods. While we didn’t stray far from our school, we still stepped into another part of nature that seemed so distant. But before we did that, we went over what we believed “living deliberately” was. We learned about different ways people viewed “living deliberately” by sharing sticky notes on which we wrote down our ideas. This allowed me to view what “living deliberately” really meant. To some it could mean living with purpose but to others it could mean taking risks. To me, it means knowing your role in life and acting on it to live your life to the fullest. Overall, I found that no matter what it means, it is important to live deliberately.
Today we also traveled to a pond close to our school. We were tasked with taking picture of things up close, which we are going to talk more about tomorrow. However, I still took pictures of many things, up close or not. While taking these pictures, I was able to really see how important every little detail in nature is and how all details work together to create a large painting of beauty in nature. Once everyone had snapped some pictures, we took 3 minutes to sit in silence and really absorb all that was going on around us. Whilst this was happening, I heard many things that I would not normally hear and saw things I would not normally see.
I saw a fish jump in the water of the pond, creating a resounding splash as it did so. I noticed the rustle of the trees behind me. Many little details that allowed me to truly relax and enjoy nature. I hope that I can continue doing this as time goes on, for it is important to take time to clear your mind. I believe that this will also help me learn more about what it means to live deliberately and I’m excited to continue my adventure.
